Well, I did it. It took me over a year of pent-up opinions and a worldwide pandemic, but I finally did it. Welcome, one and all, to the official Social Tune blog!
For the uninitiated, I was formerly the star of a modest YouTube channel in which I explained why my opinions on music were better than everybody else's. Long story short, copyright strikes are a bitch and I eventually burnt out HARD! So, I released a somewhat impromptu video calling the whole thing off and announcing my immediate retirement.
Since then, I've appeared in a couple of cameos for my fellow YouTube critics and even tweeted once or twice! Otherwise, I've been silent and completely disconnected from the community. However, the interest in music never waned, and nor did the overwhelming urge to give my cents whenever I watched a new list or review. Yet, whenever I thought about returning to it in some way, shape or form, I found myself up against an insurmountable hurdle: video editing. I can safely say that it has always been my least favourite part of the process and not remotely worth it for the amount of time and misery it costs me. Once it was possible, but no longer. Thus, an alternative medium was necessary.
All of this brings us here today, where I am officially starting an online blog where I talk about my thoughts on music, new and old. It will be messy, it will take time to get started properly, and there may be no apparent rhyme or reason to what I choose to write about. Many of you who were onboard previously will understandably miss the old review format, but as a wise man once said: "Times change and so must I." Plus I've missed writing and I don't think I'm terrible at it.
